CEREMONIAL first pitches at baseball games have become something of a yawn over the years.
At big games in the US, Japan and Korea, usually some celebrity steps up and manages to make a fool of themselves as they dribble the ball along the ground, or throw it wildly, missing the catcher by miles.
Then up stepped Olympian Shin Soo-ji. She’s a Korean rhythmic gymnast.
And the pitch she threw before the Doosan bears-Samsung Lions match in Korea last week was something extraordinary.
You have to see it to believe it.
Her eye-popping pitch has gone viral in just three days since it was uploaded to YouTube, with more than 6.6 million views.
Due to copyright restrictions, you’ll have to watch it on YouTube.
Check out her moves frame-by-frame.
OK, good form with the stance …
Crikey! That’s one hell of a wind-up!
And the pitch went over the plate!
